KSA warns unlicensed Casino Sky of heavy fines
The company that owns the Casino Sky brand, Sarah Eternal, has received a warning from Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), for operating without a required license.
The Costa Rican company has been notified by the KSA that it needs to cease its activities in the Dutch market or risk paying a large fine. In particular, the business may incur fines of up to €840,000 for each week if it continues to conduct illicit business.
The matter started when KSA inspectors were able to utilize the Casino Sky platform—which isn’t authorized in the Netherlands—to make an account, deposit money, and play games of chance. The fact that accounts that were clearly identified as being from the Netherlands were permitted to play underlines the company’s inability to ban Dutch players. According to Dutch regulations, unlicensed gambling sites must use IP blocking or other measures to prohibit access from the Netherlands in order to safeguard Dutch players.
In an effort to better protect players and stop illegal gambling, the KSA is taking decisive action as part of a larger campaign to govern and regulate the online gambling industry in the Netherlands. The regulatory body has a reputation for promptly enforcing penalties against infractions to deter unauthorized gambling operations.
