Arjan Blok takes the role of CEO of Dutch Lottery
Arjan Blok took over as CEO of the Dutch Lottery (Nederlandse Loterij) recently, following his previous position as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the same company since 2016.
His selection as CEO was first announced in November 2023, and according to his LinkedIn profile, he started his new responsibilities this week.
The Dutch Lottery’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Alexander Pechthold, welcomed Blok as the best candidate for the CEO position and emphasized his leadership, which has continuously produced profitable results for the business since the merger in 2016.Blok’s important contributions to the company’s digital transformation, being a major area of attention recently, were also highlighted by Pechthold.
Blok held positions at the Ministry of Finance, the consulting firm Cap Gemini, the energy company Essent, and other organizations prior to his time at the Dutch Lottery. He brought a wide range of financial and managerial experiences from his past to the Dutch Lottery, where he served as CFO before becoming CEO.
Speaking on his new position, Blok was proud of how, since joining the company in 2016 concurrently with departing CEO Niels Onkenhout, he and the team have built it into the biggest and most responsible gambling supplier in the Netherlands. In addition to playing a key role in the present Dutch Lottery’s formation through the merger of the Lotto and the Dutch State Lottery, Onkenhout led the corporation in establishing its TOTO brand as an online gaming provider.
Blok celebrated the accomplishments so far and the opportunities ahead in his remarks, expressing his excitement and optimism for the Dutch Lottery’s future.
