BGC places high value on safer gambling promotions
The Betting and Gaming Council has talked about the importance of betting sponsorships and safer gambling promotions before the festive sport event taking place in the UK, including horse racing, football, darts and cricket.
BGC members suggest sponsorship of £350 million for racing, taxes and media rights. At the same time, the English Football League receives £40 million annually from the regulated gambling industry. Wagering operators give £2.5 million for rugby league and £10 million for snooker and darts.
BGC highlighted the financial support being essential, especially after the pandemic. They continued their mission for safer wagering promotion involving an education programme costing £1 million which has 5 years duration.
Some critics say that the wagering messages are not effective, as messages like ‘Take time to think’ does not seem to solve the wagering problem.
There are other examples from the cooperation between Betway and West Ham United, offering safer wagering and responsible betting sessions for all workers, customers and trainers.
Kindred Group released a 4-part series named ‘Know your limits’ which supports responsible wagering.
BGC has also funded another program named Young People’s Gambling Harm Prevention costing £10m within the state.
This year, the Council introduced terms and rules for social media utility for football teams. Besides, the 20 per cent of TV and radio ads were promised to contain safer wagering slogans.
Estimates show a drop from 0.6 per cent to 0.3 per cent in the rate of problem wagering.
