The IBIA has recently published its latest annual report covering integrity alerts and challenges in 2023.

The key figure reported by the association was the number of suspicious wagering alerts that took place throughout the year, which was recorded at just 184 in 2023, representing a year-over-year decrease of about 35% from 2022’s 285 alerts. The IBIA also reported that the past year’s number of integrity alerts fell short of the annual average of 244 for the period between 2019 and 2022.

Another key statistic reported by the association was the number of games it was able to prove to be affected by integrity issues, which was recorded at 74 throughout the year. The IBIA also mentioned that the number of players, officials, and other professionals involved in sports that were sanctioned for various integrity failures experienced an increase in 2023, with the association’s data contributing to 21 sanctions in the year compared to the previous year’s 15.

Lastly, the IBIA reported that football had the most integrity alerts of all sports in the year at 63, which represented a slight decrease from 2022’s 67 alerts. This was followed by tennis at 54 alerts, which experienced a near-50% decrease from the preceding year’s figure of 106 alerts.
