Simon Collins quits MD role at News UK
Simon Collins will be quitting his position as Managing Director of Betting and Gaming for News UK. He will allegedly be going back to the start up scene.
The former MD has amassed more than 25 years of experience within the iGaming scene after working with multiple well-known brands in the industry and ensuring their improvement. More than 20 years ago, he also co-founded and became the Managing Director of Cashcade (owner of Foxy Bingo). Then in 2018, he co-founded Gaming Realms, a gaming supplier for the industry.
Party Gaming bought out Cashcade for £90 million, and Collins stayed at bwin.party, where he focused on research, innovation and improvement strategies. He was also in charge of the social aspect of Cashcade’s brands until 2011. Then, towards the end of 2019, he became the Managing Director of News UK in their betting and gaming department.
During his time as MD, he supervised and managed a large variety of brands such as Sun Racing, Sun Bingo, Sun Play, Sun Win, and the Dream Team fantasy football product. The product is currently the UK’s most popular fantasy football game as it acquired over 1 million players since its release.
Collins mentioned:
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at News UK. It’s been a pleasure to work with such a talented team to develop some of the most popular gaming products in the UK environment – from Dream Team to Sun Bingo. That said, my roots – and my heart – lay in the start up space, and the lure of the new opportunities there was just too strong.
Jo Bucci, who is the General Manager of The Sun will be taking on the various responsibilities of Collins, such as managing the Dream Team.
Wireless CEO Scott Taunton said:
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for his hard work and entrepreneurialism over the last year. Simon has led the Betting & Gaming team during an important phase, focusing on new product development alongside driving strong revenues in this space.
