UKGC launches new online reporting service

The UKGC has recently launched a new online reporting portal.

The new service will enable anyone in the UK to report a variety of illegal activities relating to the gambling pastime anonymously. It will also allow players, industry professionals, and other people to submit supporting evidence with their reports, helping the Commission fight against illegal gambling, financial crimes such as money laundering, underage play, and many other types of activities.

The regulatory authority will be utilizing this online reporting portal alongside its existing telephone reporting service, through which anyone wishing to make a report for a similar set of suspicious and illegal activities can submit one by calling. The UKGC mentioned that its new offering will make the reporting process easier and more anonymous, although individuals submitting reports are able to leave their contact information to receive updates on their inquiries.

Lastly, the UKGC mentioned that the new anonymous reporting service should not be used for complaints against the country’s licensed gambling operators, along with other types of crimes that have no relation to the gambling sector.

This announcement follows less than a week after the regulator launched its second round of consultations into implementing the changes proposed by the UK’s gambling white paper. Read our coverage of the UKGC’s second consultations round to learn more.
