UKGC publishes new operator data
The UKGC has recently published new data from its licensed operators.
The commission’s latest data covers both online and land-based gambling businesses throughout the United Kingdom and compares the performance of these companies in the third quarter of the 2022 and 2023 financial years, which are three-month periods ending on the 31st of December of each respective fiscal year.
The report started off by covering online gambling firms, the key figures of which included a gross yield of 1.3 billion pounds in 2023, which represented a year-over-year increase of about 4%, along with a total wager number of 24 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 9% and setting a new record for the figure in the period. The UKGC also reported a 2% increase in the number of average monthly playing accounts.
Sports wagering experienced a 5% increase in its gross yields to 468 million pounds, despite the number of total wagers decreasing 3% in 2023. Slot terminals, on the other hand, experienced a 6% increase in gross yields to 618 million pounds, while the niche’s total played rounds grew by 11% in the period.
Lastly, the UKGC also mentioned that it detected an increase in the number of slot gambling sessions that lasted more than an hour by 3% to a total of just under 10 million, however, the length of the average session decreased from 19 minutes to 17 minutes.
