Time is running out…if you’ve worked on a fashion film recently and want the opportunity to have your work seen by industry heavyweights, submit now!
Submissions close on Sunday 31st July, with finalists being announced on August 15th. AFFA 2016 finalists will have their films shown at a screening event at ACMI (The Australian Centre for the Moving Image) on August 29th as part of the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week program.
Creatives submitting their films will have a chance to take out awards in the following categories:
Best Fashion Styling
Best Hair and Makeup
Best Sound Design
Best Visual Effects
Best Independent Production
Best Australian Fashion Film
Best International Fashion Film
People’s Choice Award
Best Fashion Film – Emerging Label
This year we’ve introduced a new category, ‘Emerging Label’ to the existing award list to give upcoming labels and artists an opportunity to sit amongst fashion’s elite and have their work seen on a global stage.
The big winner at last year’s event was Chanel, who took home 4 of the 12 awards. Other winners include Baz Luhrmann, Renya Xydis and Gracie Otto.
The general public will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award, while the rest of the award categories will be judged by our star-studded panel of judges, some of which are head executives from the GRAMMYs, ACMI and Paramount Pictures.
The Australian Fashion Film Awards is an exciting opportunity for filmmakers to have their work seen by top industry professionals and a wide audience. AFFA also creates opportunities for industry collaborations. Gracie Otto, last year’s People’s Choice Awards winner, teamed up with Westfield to create their campaign ‘Today, I Am’. Importantly, this collaboration highlights that large corporations are beginning to see the value of fashion films as a vehicle to promote their brands.
